Run
Comments: I felt good. I ran the entire time even through water stops. I had to pee in the beginning but never did and was fine. My knees hurt a lot during the downhills. My hip hurt a bit but not too bad. The uphills were great and that was the only time I passed people. I ate 2 shot blocks at 45 min, 2 at 1:15 and 2 at 1:45. That worked well. What would you do differently?: Train more. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Tried a beer but didn't like it. Got a sports drink, stretched and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. I need more long runs and speedwork. Event comments: I really liked this race and would come back. The course was beautiful as advertised. The rainbow before the race and the rain stopping for the race didn't hurt the days events! The course was rolling hills which made it interesting. The port-o-pots and aid stations were plentiful with great volunteers. The traffic control was pretty good with someone at each intersection. The locals that came out were great including the British couple telling me I was 2.2 km to the finish. There was beer at one aid station which is fabulous but could have been a little closer to the finish. The beer garden at the end was serving good beer! I would highly recommend this 1/2 marathon. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wyndswept/3265199403/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/wyndswept/3266022806/ Last updated: 2008-12-18 12:00 AM
