Comments: Felt pretty good. This is the first workout in a recovery week for me, so I didn't want to race, just see what I could do. I negative split the two 5k's by a full minute, so I guess I started out too easy. What would you do differently?: Start a bit faster - maybe more like 12:00 rather than 12:15-12:30 and build from there. Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit, drank a little tiny bottle of Vitamin Water (Revitalize, I think) and rode my bike home. Took a long, hot shower and stretched a bit. Event comments: Very nice race. It's low key, not too crowded and there weren't many walkers or baby joggers on the 10K/Half-mary course. The 5K course was very different, so no interference there. The back half is a little rolling, along the creek, but not too bad. Folks who were aggressive in the first half definitely felt it during the second. There were lots of young volunteers - always fun to have out there and quite a few residents along the course out cheering us on. It was quite fun. Last updated: 2009-02-09 12:00 AM

Got up around 6:30, had some coffee, a toaster pastry and some walnuts, and read the newspaper. Rode my bike downtown, entered the race, took my coat off, pinned my number on.
Stood in the sun.
