Pre-race routine:

Woke at 5am and ate some wholewheat toast with pb and honey checked my bags and headed to the Y
Event warmup:

running up and down the steps! I volunteered from 6:30-10:30 timing the waves. It was fun and I got to cheer them on which pumped me up.
Got in the pool at 10:50, a few flip turns and I was ready to go
Swim
  • 10m
  • 475 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

1/2 stroke short of my 500. Need to have more confidence in my swim. Don't stop until.
What would you do differently?:

not stop to see if we were done.
Transition 1
  • 10m
Comments:

this was a 10 min t1 lots of time...
Bike
  • 20m
  • 6.3 miles
  • 18.90 mile/hr
Comments:

didn't like this part. I am a peddle masher and like high gear low cadence.. spin bike is opposite. low gear high cadence. I was bouncing all over without resistance on the wheel. I also decided to go with my running shorts with compression shorts under...compression shorts were not long enough for the bike...can we say that will leave a mark? ouchhhh!
What would you do differently?:

Wear longer shorts!
Transition 2
  • 05m
Comments:

5 min to get from were the bike were to the TM..couldn't get my socks on.
Run
  • 15m
  • 1.8 miles
  • 08m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Tried to run with the i-pod...ear buds kept falling out..threw the i-pod to my daughter! I just focused on the miles. was trying to get to 2 but ended up with a side cramp and was almost ready to quit. but I dug deep and DTFU and kept going. was happy with 1.8 as that is what I was doing in the gym(without the S&B)
Post race
Warm down:

ate some bananas and oranges and hung with my family and friends.

Event comments:

For a first time event Tori and her crew put on an amazing event. I am very proud of her! Will sign up next year if she does it again.
