Not sure if many people outside of where I live (Dallas) know, and even if you are from here, unless you mountain bike you probably still wouldn't know.  But George W. (yes the former president) has been hitting up our trails pretty heavily.

Regardless of your party affiliation, you have to admire the man's fitness at his age (he's 62), not to mention the fact that he's obviously not scared to take a fall and get dirty, since he's mountain biking.  These trails aren't just off road paths, they have some decent hills and pretty great technical areas, although I'd love to hear of him riding some of the more advanced stuff and how he fares.

Maybe I'll get lucky one day and see him out while I'm on the trails!

He just got a membership at a country club that my family belongs to, and I saw him there at lunch last week. He and his wife ate in the corner of the room, surrounded by security. It didn't look as glamorous as I always imagined it would be...

But yes, I've seen pictures of him cycling with Lance Armstrong, and it made me think about my workouts and "fitting them into my schedule." If the (former) President of the United States can find time to ride, I have no excuses.

He use to mountain around the trails in MD/VA .. some pals included Lance Armstrong, Redskins Coach Jim Zorn, General Petraeus and many others.. I saw some graphic somewhere talking about the amount time he worked out while in office.. It was very impressive (like 500 hrs a year average)

In the Whitehouse he rode a blue and white Trek Full Suspension with the presidential seal on the front

I heard on the olympic coverage last summer that he did the olympic course while he was in bejing.  I imagine you have to be pretty good to do that.

there are now 2 things I respect him for:

1.) his mountain biking skills

2.) catlike ability to dodge shoes.

I never knew MTB was one of the 12 steps.

As a former owner of the Rangers I felt he should have fielded the shoe clean, crow hopped, and fired it to the cutoff man. I guess he was more of a dodgeball dude.

Let's see if we can lure him into doing tris, and who knows?  He might have already been a BT member!

The wife and I watched W. for the first time a week or so ago.  Don't know how many of you caught it, but he would run sub 7:00/mile 5k's.  No matter what you thought of his politics, that's a nice pace.  I was duly impressed.

And yet BO gets the nickname of the workout pres?  I want to see those two, head-to-head in an open 5k.

Different kind of "presidential race?"  At least in this one I wouldn't have to watch campaign ads

Then the next day, some one-on-one on the court. B-ball that is.

A game to 10, BO for sure.  A game to 100... hmm might be a different story if endurance becomes a factor.  But I've never seen Bush dribble a basketball so he might have two left feet.  Not to mention Bush is about 15 years his senior.. I think a handicap is in order.

Of course.

Then a tri, on the third day.  Because after all, this is a tri community!
