Total Time = 2h 45m 47s
Overall Rank = 778/862
Age Group = Male 30 - 34
Age Group Rank = 92/99
Pre-race routine:

Got there at 6am to be out of transition by 7am. I didn't start until 8.45am!
Swim
  • 33m 20s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

I started well and did so for the first 1100m, coming back was hard. There was a bit of a current and it wasn't in our favour coming back.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to swim more, which I have been doing lately, keep it up and hopefully some results will pay off soon.
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Cat Pos - 59th
Overall - 419

I don't know what I looked like but I know my face was covered in crap!
That river is really bad to swim in!
What would you do differently?:

I beat half the field, I wish I could race as well as my transitions.
Bike
  • 1h 13m 50s
  • 40 kms
  • 32.51 km/hr
Comments:

At least it was a consistent ride, which was my goal. The distance does not bother me and I held a reasonable speed. I am happy, I sat on 35/40 heading out and was still being passed by PACKS of riders. I thought drafting was illegal? Only if you get caught I guess. I did see quite a few of them in the penalty box, so that's good.
What would you do differently?:

I am doing ok, I am where I want to be 7 weeks out from Busselton.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Cat Pos - 33
Overall - 209
I did stuff around too! I was trying to put my goggles and cap closer to my bike, why? I really don't know, wasted a few seconds here, not that it matters.
What would you do differently?:

Not worry about silly stuff like my goggles, its not like I need them to run!
Run
  • 56m 21s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 38s  min/km
Comments:

I got blisters and I got them BAD! On the ends of my toes and on the arches of my feet! I either need to replace my shoes or maybe wear socks.
What would you do differently?:

I haven't done a lot of run training but it is something that I am focusing on. I normally run 9km at 4.3 min/km off the bike in training (with a 1km hill) so I know its not the distance, just the feet.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was on target for my 2:35.00 until the run and even had I run a 45.00 for 10km I would have only made up 6 places.

Event comments:

I think I can race this distance fine, I felt good, I maybe need to train more, but doesn't everyone?
I didn't do well this year but the last Olympic Distance event I did was Bunbury 07 in 3:08.31 with no training.
So to take 23 mins off that is good for me!

Great race, well done. That river water is disgusting isn't it LOL? It sounds like you're happy with your performance, well done on being on track for Busselton! Its a shame about the blisters - I agree maybe wear socks or Body Glide?

Good race Sean, that looked like a tuff field, where did they all come from? 5km is my sockless limit, anything longer I have to use socks.

Looking good for Busso, best of luck.

Hey Sean,  you were looking good when you ran past me!  no idea that you had blister issues!

I can't run anything longer then 5k's without blisters.  even with bodyglide I blister up.

it was a massive field in your age group.  good work doing as well as you did!  scary how good the competition from the east is!

Good stuff - you're where I want to be in the next year or 2 so it's great reading about local people doing good!

The Swan is lovely to swim in isn't it?  Did you see many jellies?
