Run
Comments: Oi. Hot. And humid! Not sure what else to say. It was a prediction run so I had no idea what my pacing was. I was just going as hard as I could. My pace really tailed off the last mile...I was getting SO hot. The outside part of my lower legs hurt...I think it was the Newton's. What would you do differently?: Not suck. Post race
Warm down: Stood around in the food/drink area eating and drinking until I found some people I had met Monday at the running club. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm fat. Event comments: This race is sponsored by Mcguire's. For 20 bucks I got a tech shirt, beef stew, soda bread, Irish Wakes, root beer...yada yada yada. Totally worth it. For having 9000 runners it's impressive...no shortages...plenty of food and drink. I'm glad the weather held out! No rain! And I got to know the Monday night runners a little better! Pensacola is over an hour away. So I got up REALLY early. Out of the house by 0550. On the way to the race I ate some grits. Mmmmmmm. I drove though some heavy downpours which almost made me turn around! But I kept going. Arrived in Pensacola, found myself some rock star parking and signed up. Then I had a lot of time to kill. So I just sat in my car until about 8am. Then I put my shoes on and hit the porta potties. Then back to sitting in the car. Somewhere in there I ate a banana.
At about 0830 I got out of the car and did my warmup--10' Z1 and 4x(30"strides,90"walk).
