Hey -

Does such a thing as a nursing/sport bra exist?? I need one! I cannot believe I went up two cup sizes, and I was not small to start with. I need more support than ever, but can't deal with the over-the-head type bra right now. Anyone have any recommendations? I suppose even just a good sport bra with a front closure would work.

Thanks!
Rebecca

I feel your pain! No seriously after baby #2 I was a 36 F!!! I couln't find a supportive enough nursing sports bra. But Walmart (I know, I know) had a back closure underwire sports bra that I used. It uncliped in the back but you had to slip the crossback over your head.... But it was easy enough to unlatch and lift for a quick feed when needed. Enough support to run in.

found this but I don't think that would have been enough for me.

Thank goodness they went down! Hope you are as lucky!

Are you pregnant or have you just started training after delivery and are breastfeeding? I know there are nusrsing sports bras because I bought some for my stepdaughter when she was pregnant. The problem is that because they are made for breasts that change size frequently, they aren't really supportive enough for exercise such as running. Your best bet is a good regular sports bra for large breasted women. They do make them with closures in the back. Look on the road runner sports website, or title9.com. Also, athleta.com is a good website for women's workout wear that has some really good bras. Good luck with your baby and your training!

Okay, let me see if I get this right:

mmm, probably not in this case. I usually agree with this sentiment, but not so much here.

Maybe this won't be a popular response, but I would not be doing anything that resembled real training until you hit at least that 6 week postpartum mark.  Your body is still healing, and your cup size is waaaaay bigger now than it will be in 2 months when things normalize.  Maybe I'm just a big whimp, but running was (for once) not a priority for me after birthing either of my sons!  Get some extra sleep instead!

I had my son 5 weeks ago and started back running last week.  At first I tried two normal running bras with an Ace bandage wrapped on top to lock the "girls" down...but then I found the Enell bra.  It is amazing!  I ran 6 miles (very slowly) on Sunday with the Enell bra and a tank top with a support shelf built in and had ZERO bounce issues!  And, to top it off, the Enell hooks up the front, so it is fairly easy to undo and nurse if you need to.

Of course, the wisdom of my 10 year old step-son was to take a bottle of pumped milk out on the run because it would just be wrong to have to breastfeed in the woods

www.enell.com  They are ugly but effective

I am still nursing my 7 month old daughter and also had the problem with sports bras.  The main thing is that your size will fluctuate from day to day.  I found that the nursing sports bras were not supportive enough and had to go back to regular over the head sports bras which are really inconvenient for nursing but they really are the only things that provide the best support.

My wife has the same issue.  She had the best luck with a normal sports bra and making sure she had pumped or feed the little one right before working out.  She also found a specialized nursing bra that was essentially a sports bra at the nursing store at the hospital we go to.  So they are out there, although she said she didn't like it much because it wasn't as supportive.

Okay, let me see if I get this right:

Actually, the accepted phrase for situations such as these is:

"This thread is worthless without pics!"

Edit:  Just to make things clear, this post was intended in a humorous vein.  If I wanted large breast pictures, there are plenty of places on the internet for porn.  Afterall, porn is what Al Gore invented the internet for, right?

Yes, and that is exactly how I meant it as well.  Guess I should have used the red font, although I'm not sure if it was really sarcasm or just ribbing type humor.

In another vein, I checked out the link for that Enell sports bra at www.enell.com

Not too bad .... I wouldn't say that those bra's are ugly ...

But if you really want something to oogle ... I clicked that link on Enell "For Men" and ended up seeing more than I bargained for.  If you follow the links you will end up at a page for a male problem known as gynecomastia ...

Check this out:  http://www.gynecomastia.org/content/treatment/gynogallery.shtml
