Subject: Heartrate zones. how to set them up.

I admit that i have not thorougly gone through the instructions, But I did try to intuitively set up the ranges for my cycling efforts, and it did not work.

I have done a field test on the bicycle and at my age of 57, I have a max heart rate of 172.  How do I set up the various heartrate zones for cycling in the training log?  I will have to do the same for running and swimming as well, and assume the process is the same.

I will understand if you send me back to the instructions.

You don't want your max HR.  during the field test, you go all out for 30 minutes and you take the AVERAGE HR for the last 20 minutes of that 30' all out effort.

Plug that into the BT calculator to set your zones.

There is also a run field test that is similar.  Keep in mind, that your run HR average should be about 7 to 10  bpm higher than your bike average.

To be honest, I never tried to figure out my swim zones as it's too hard to really get a good HR while swimming I have found.  Even with a HRM.  I just go by feel with that.

Feel free to ask more questions if I was not clear.

good luck!
