Pre-race routine:

Later start, so I had time at home with my family. Banana, 1/2 PB sandwich, water.
Event warmup:

The usual for me...get to the race late enough to run to get my packet, run back to my car to drop off thegoodie bag, and run back to the bathroom before the start. It gets me loose, so it's o.k.

Comments:

Started out so well, felt great, with first three miles in 25:20. Settled into a little slower pace (9:20-9:40) for the next 6. After that the wheels didn't actually fall off but it wasn't pretty. At about mile 11 or 11.5 my right hip flexor tightened and started to tug at my hamstring. It slowed me down and even forced a bit of walking. Even so, I only missed a PR by 38 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Probably ease off on the first three miles. I will need to do this for the marathon in May or I won't make it 26.2!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a little, then stood around in a stuffy gym. It really messed with me, even amyjotris commented on my pale look. As soon as I got outside in fresh air I felt better.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hip pain, and a little bit of an upset stomach between mile 11 and 12.

Event comments:

Most of the food was gone (5K ended long before I finished) so that kind of sucked. Decent race though and I loved the course.

Can't say enough about the Donkey support. firstnet911 (and kids), sgoehner, Joe Runner all providing great jockstrap support and the racing Donkeys (cweninger, amyjotris, jmwebs and morey1) were great to hang with. Very fun morning for me!

Great meeting you.  Yea, wtf was with the lack of food?  Still, a fun race at a fun time of year, so that bizznatch hasn't seen the last of me yet.

I didn't get to see the Donks since I was already on the course.

The 5K or 10K persons SHOULD NOT have the food!  PERIOD.

Great race Pete! Nice to see you as always.   Glad the fresh air helped. The stuffy gym, with the blasting rock band and lack of food was a bit much.
