Sunny
Total Time = 1h 14m 13s
Overall Rank = 78/585
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 10/34
Event warmup:

No warm-up... too much waiting around...
Swim
  • 00m
  • 437 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

I am not sure what my split time was, however, I started at the back of the pack with people much slower than me, so I got caught in a number of bottlenecks behind folks doggie paddling.
What would you do differently?:

Start with a faster group so I don't have to swim around, below, between people. That way I can get out of the pool faster.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Had trouble getting the shoes on... need to get some body glide around the mouth of the shoes next time.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster
Bike
  • 38h 30m
  • 12.74 miles
  • 0.33 mile/hr
Comments:

I was a little dissapointed with my speed, though I was pretty happy with how I attacked the hills.
What would you do differently?:

Push it a little bit harder on the downhills!\.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Couldn't get my running shoes on fast enough. I decided that I wasn't going to wear socks for a sprint, and ended up getting some blisters, but they did not bother me during the running. Ended up putting on the strap on my garmin on upside down and was not able to get a good read on the info.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe get socks on or get used to not wearing socks.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

The run went well, though I think I could have started my sprint at the end a little bit sooner. That would have allowed me to gain a few more seconds (which could have resulted in a few spots higher).
What would you do differently?:

Run harder!
Post race
Warm down:

Did a little stretching but not much else.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think starting at the back of the pack slowed my entire race. Not only with the pool lanes being clogged with participants doggy paddling, but also participants chatting and taking up the entire lane on the bike course.. Also, not having a proper 'Rabbit' to chase through the course made it difficult to mentally push myself harder.

Event comments:

Goodie bag was a bit of a dissapointment. The organizers lost the split time data, the TA was a bit crowded. On the other hand, things moved well, and it was a lot of fun. I would change some things, but mostly with my own performance.

I think the race needed more collegiate coeds in the pool area. And split data. And beer. Or any combo of the above.

Luckily I avoided much of the social hour bike ride although I did run into a few "draft and chat" sessions
