just a thought I had...

Since this is a a river swim, and there is a current (albeit very, very slow)
will 1300 triathletes have an impact on the river current velocity?

i've read in some IM RR that lake placid started to develop a "current" going round and round b/c of the swimmers...

thanks!

I'd be surprised if that phenomenon happens. The swim lane at 'Nooga is very wide and swimmers space out pretty well (last year I saw one guy up by the cliff base).

I vote no rain..I wanna run my zipp 404's and get done with the bike fast so I can suffer less heat on the run...Hot and humid huh?  Sounds like evry single day of training we do in Georgia!

I just hope my kids will understand why they have to wait for all the other people to finish before mommy does...

Should we go ahead and assume no wet suit?  I really don't feel like draggin that thing around.  I thought they sent out an email saying the water temp was already 82-83.  Can anybody confirm?

I wouldn't bother to pull the wetsuit out of the closet.  The water temp is generally in the mid 80's for this race.

Wow, very challenging course!

The swim...I didn't feel any current on that swim. And I was freaked out badly under the first bridge when I saw something LARGE in the water. Did it come up to check me out? I only caught a glimpse of it, b/c the water was murky, but I almost called a kayak over. My race was almost done.

The bike...very tough, at least for me. I don't know my official time yet, but I'm pretty sure I didn't get close to 20mph. The misting at the turnaround was very welcome.

The run...ran in the rain. Got TONS of blisters. I can't believe we had to run up 3 flights of stairs! I half expected to hear Rocky music at that point. Squish, squish, squish went my Newton's! Not really all that hilly, but it just seemed LONG.

Fun and I'll do it again...when I train more for hills.

I know I enjoyed myself tremendously.  Kinda different doing a race and not caring about time.  I was just staying aerobic and comfortable (comfy enough to sing on the bike some) and finished with a 3:02.

Wow - you did awesome!!  You must have kicked butt biking on all those hills.  I needed your legs out there!

Good job, everybody!

That, to me, was PERFECT weather for a race! My # was in the 900's, so no rain on the bike, but sprinkles on the run to keep this big engine cool!

I had a smile on my face most of the day...I had a great time!

Thanks Karen, my bike average was 19.8.  I had to be careful not to work too hard on it, I forgot to grab my gu for the ride and had only half a bottle of gatoraide for nutrition.  I knew that meant I'd be in trouble on the run, so I did not get at all jiggy on the bike.  In fact, I was singing to keep myself at a good, easy pace and not let myself get too hyped.

As it is, my run speed was abysmal, and I put far too little effort into the swim.  Came out of the water feeling fresh as a daisy.
