Total Time = 2h 57m 28s
Overall Rank = 10/56
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/4
Pre-race routine:

Ate some food, drove to the race site, set up transition.
Event warmup:

swam roughly 50m
Swim
  • 17m 54s
  • 1000 meters
  • 01m 47s / 100 meters
Comments:

mid pack as usual, sighting was very good. Felt good coming out of the water, I may not be fast but I don't use up my matches.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Didn't really push to go fast in T1, just did what needed to be done.
Bike
  • 1h 41m 19s
  • 14.91 miles
  • 8.83 mile/hr
Comments:

Burped the front wheel a few times, aired up once. Didn't go hard, just rode steady saving some matches for the run. Tried E-caps on the ride, had them on the handle bar, ate 5-6 which may have been too much.

What would you do differently?:

not eat as many e-caps
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Good T2, except for the right shoe buckle being stuck from the mud/horse sh!t. I had to pull it off.
Run
  • 55m 46s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Fell once, early on the run which made me forget about the stomach cramps for a while. The cramps subsided around 23 minutes into the run and allowed me to up the pace and I reeled in a runner who had passed me earlier.
What would you do differently?:

Don't eat so many e-caps on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

went to the lake and washed off the mud/horse shit.

Event comments:

Good race put on by Middle Ring Cycles. Nice trails, but they need some trail love. The run is epic, and beautiful as it hugs the shoreline of Badin Lake.
I held back on the bike as I didn't want to have another melt down like at Du Nats. I also learned a valuable lesson on my race nutrition, 3rd year racing XTERRA's and I still have a lot to learn. Overall, I'm happy with my performance, and happy to put the last race behind me.
