Comments: (Let me premise this report by informing you I just started running in February, not completing my first treadmill 5k until March.) Really didn't know what te expect. This is just my second ever road race and first 10k. I made up my mind going in that I would concentrate on my pace and not really pay attention to everyone else around me. The start was extremely crowded. I started in the middle to back of the group since I knew I was doing my own thing and not really looking to "race." With that in mind, I got into my pace right away and passed many many people before the first turn, just worked my way through the crowd. I made it a point to personally track my splits, and given the difference between my watch time and the official time is only 1 sec., these splits should be pretty reliable: 1st mile= 10:36 2nd= 10:42 3rd= 10:49 4th= 10:33 5th= 10:49 6.2= 12:55 All uphill!!!!!! With these splits, keep in mind, part of my plan was to walk the water stations until I was good with my fluid intake. Running a drinking doesn't work for me too well. Overall, all was excellent! My goal was 1:15, and I was able to finish in 1:06. I'm very happy! What would you do differently?: Maybe not start so far toward the back. Lost some time in the first 2 miles constantly working through all the traffic, including the walkers. Post race
Warm down: Got some of the spread offered, walked around over to the half marathon course and waited for some friend to cheer them on. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing, did exactly what I hoped i could do. Event comments: Thanks to all who assisted in making this race one to remember! All the volenteers and spectators cheering everyone on were great! Thank you everyone. Last updated: 2009-05-13 12:00 AM

Got into Cleveland about 5:45am, with so many participant, over 9300, I needed t be sure I could get a decent place to park. It was windy and cold! Walk down to start area, found a nice warm steam vent to stand over and waited for the marathon and 1/2 marathon runner to start.
Did some light stretching. with all the wind and 49 degrees, just waited until right before start to warm up.
