Comments:

Rain Sucks! I got under 2 hours at least, but the last mile was killer to meet my goal time. I tried taking it easy early on, but the HR does not suggest that at all. I am surprised that I was able to maintain high Zone 3 for that long. I was close to my target pace at mile 9 (1:20:07), which was approximately when the downpour started. I was hoping to be there a couple of minutes earlier to give me a little more cushion for the final 5k. Mile 10 was too slow; that was the low point of the race. I remember rationalizing that I was going slower to prepare the climb, but in reality I think the rain had sucked a little energy out of me in the middle of the race. My shoes felt heavy, my shirt was heavy, etc. I thought for sure that I could tackle the two miles of uphill in 20 min, but it took 21:30; that was not good. I really should have run that portion a few times prior to the event to get used the exact grade. I thought the Mile 12 marker was missing so I felt homefree and that I was going to be well under 2 hrs; I thought it should have been around the overpass of I-95. But then I saw it on the other side of the overpass, and I had to run the last stretch in 9 minutes to get under 2 hours. I am very happy that I was able to kick that hard at the end of a half marathon. That tells me that I could have possibly shaved off a couple of minutes in the middle of the race. What's the crazy band playing Purple Rain at the point. Seriously, that song is not a fire me up type song.
What would you do differently?:

run more, duh. The middle portion of races is still lacking. I can't seem to push myself to keep the pace up; I think perhaps I need to back off more at the start to conserve energy.
Post race
Warm down:

couple of beers, streching, and a 1 mile jog back to car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The Hills; daydreaming in the middle of the race and not keeping up pace
