Swim
Comments: Never realized it is 1/2 mile (800m), always thought it was only 1/2 km (500m) until the race finish when I talk to others. The course looks huge but luckily I thought it is only 500m. Seeing Eric and Cheryl at the beginning of the race kinna make me less nervous. I stay slow and calm through out most course due to the overwhelming feeling at the beginning. (which is good) I can swim a little faster. What would you do differently?: practice on slighting. I am doing zip-zap too much. practice swimming in general. I am swimming too slow. Transition 1
Comments: transaction area from swim to T1 is a long uphill run. The transaction area is full of sand. What would you do differently?: walk faster in the water. don't bother clean up my sandy foot and just put the shoes on. practice unload the bike from the rack faster. Bike
Comments: Too fast at the beginning. Should have take a gel before bike oppose after bike. Carry too much water. Very happy to see my lovely Nancy volunteering at the corner, jumping up and down to point me at the right direction! Pass Erik at midway. Giving the bike he is riding, I am impress with his ability. I am sure I can't pass him if he has the same bike as mine! What would you do differently?: slow down at the beginning. take a gel before the bike course oppose to after the bike course. carry less water. Half bottle is enough Train harder on the bike in general. Transition 2
Comments: neighbor taking up my space! I have to shift bike around to fit my bike on the rack. I also have to go to both side of the rack to change and rack the bike. What would you do differently?: nothing I can really do. Maybe bike faster and rack my bike before the neighbor come back? Run
Comments: thought I wear the wrong shoes when I hit the sand. Luckily the sand disappear once we are deep into the trail. I conserve energy by walking / hiking the double black diamond uphill. I did an awesome spin at the very end of the race. What would you do differently?: nothing much. I am quite happy with my run. I am sure if I keep my training plan I can progressive run faster / stronger Post race
Warm down: walk around. drink water eat a hotdog, beans, 1/2 a banana, chips and cookies What limited your ability to perform faster: slow swim, slow bike, slow transition Event comments: Very good race and well organize event overall despite the nature of the course (rough bike pavement, limited transaction area, rough running course, etc) I don't realize the swim is 880 yard until the post-race chat! I will see how my training go before aiming at OLY distance at the end of the season. Last updated: 2009-06-08 12:00 AM
