I'll get this started by saying I hope we have better weather than we did last year!

This was in my plans this season but I think I'm going to have to bail. I have to have somewhat minor surgery in early July that is going to take me out of at least running and probably swimming for up to 3 weeks.  With these being my 2 weakest sports I won't be in the right place in training by mid August.  And even if I am they likely will be sold out by the time I know that I can do it.  But, I'll be there to cheer on friends so I hope to meet some BT peeps finally!

This reminds me that I need to go sign up for it. I've been so focused on the Loveland Lake to Lake, that I've forgotten to get my next races lined up.

Off to sign up for the Oly!

Was anybody able to sign up that did it last year with the discount? I tried on Active.com and was charged the full price even though I put in the discount code.

I'm doing the Olympic distance for this one.  Fortunately I only live less than 10 minutes away and I have rode and run out that way a bunch of times training for other events.  The pavement on the bike course is a little on the rough side and not a lot to see, but the run course won't be too bad.  I swam in the resevoir a couple of weeks back and while the water was cold, it wasn't unbearable.  If anyone is interested, we should try to hook up on a couple of weekends out there and get a swim/ride in, so we can get used to the course.

Let me know and maybe we can figure out a time.

thanks,

Lance

Hey Lance, I'd be up for that. It's a great course and the res is totally easy to swim in. Let's plan a weekend on here- I know at least one or two BT'ers that would join in. I'm racing Saturday, maybe Sunday? Otherwise I'll be out of town the next 2 weekends. I'm sure you'll get a group regardless...

I'm sure that we could figure out a time in the AM on Sunday.  I'm definitely going to be there this weekend, though because I think that next weekend they have the "my way or the tri way" event going on out there, so at least one day next weekend is shot until early evening.  My cell # is 303-881-5471 if you want to try to make it out there, just give me a shout with a time that works.

Sounds cool- we've got 4 people.  I'm pretty much open on time, earlier the better because of the heat.  Should we say around 8 or 8:30 @ the boathouse?  I'm going to do a swim/bike personally- I can't run 2 days in a row.

Let me double check scheduling, but I should be good with 8:30am.  I'm looking to swim/bike as well.  If anything changes, I'll post it, but I'm looking forward to getting out there this weekend.

Is the run course on pavement or dirt or both?

We're trying to figure that out, too.  nobody is sure, and there's no map posted yet.  Didn't get as far as the run last year.

I just completed the "My Way or The Tri Way" Sprint at the Aurora Res and if the run course is similar (at least the first 3.5 miles), it is a mix of pavement and dirt. If there is pavement, then there is a small dirt path on the side.

I hope the weather is better this year too! My friend just told me that the largest fish in Colorado history was caught in the Aurora Res. last week! I am sure it is the same one a swam with a week earlier.... he was HUGE! Good luck guys!

Is the run course mapped out to be pretty flat or is it as hilly as I'm afraid it's going to be?  Funny how I love the rolling hills on the bike but hate 'em on the run

Not doing the Olympic this year, I'll be doing the sprint. (I'm coming up from Az).

Last year was nuts, oh, and I couldn't get active to take my discount code either.

I'll probably be the only person in colorado with an orange Valdora frame, so if you see me give a holler!
