Is this weather TOO dangerous to run in? Where do you draw the line? I need to get in a 1.5 hour run today and wondering (hoping) I dont have to hit the dreadmill.

I ran last night... about 2min out to see if I could see the tornado, than after dodging debries and getting knocked down, I was able to neg split and run back home in about 90 sec..

Is there a loop you can do so you are only a few minutes at most away from your house/car or some shelter??

It can be hard to dodge God's tasers....  If you have to ask, then you know the answer....  It will clear up by tonight...

Should be fine by tonight, but a good downpour makes for a great run.  The harder the better looks you get!

It also makes it easier to get out there in all other weather once you have got a good long run in during a good rain.

Be careful.  This was last week on Bolivar.  Story here

“He was out for a jog in the thunderstorm,” Tuttoilmondo said. “His family said he was last seen about a half-hour before he was found. All indications are that it was a possible lightning strike.”

Lara-Martinez’s body was found just west of Alma Drive.

I'll run in normal rain no problem. I actually have had my best runs in the rain. But once real storms and lightning are involved, I'll pass.

Let's check:  Recovery time for possible outcomes of running in severe weather??

1.  Miss run-able to make up missed training next day/week/month/etc.
2  Injury/death on run-LOOOONG recovery time before making up lost training/NO making up after death.

I draw the line at ANY rain... due the following:

1) I'm not getting my shoes dirty.

2) I won't get my Garmin wet.

3) I don't want my iPod to get wet- and I'm not running without it.

I have done 12 miles on a treadmill... around 2.5 hours... no problem.

I'm just that motivated to avoid cold, cold wind, and rain.

I've ran in the rain before and last night I did a wind sprint from my apartment to my friends apartment, due to the fact that my power had gone out and I'm not very confident in the construction of my apartment.

if its just raining, then its awesome to run in. who needs an ipod when you have rain? its my favorite time to run, if i'm able and its not too cold. but once i hear thunder or see lightning, no matter how faint or far away, i run for cover, literally. i've been struck too many times to take my chances
