The water isn't that cold and, with the current, it is a fast swim, usually; the cleanliness of the water isn't really an issue either, IMO. It's no worse than plenty of other bodies of water that people race in.
On the other hand, you're going to have a long T1 anyway because of the distance from swim exit to transition, so the few extra seconds you'll spend getting a wetsuit off won't hurt your overall time much. It will make you faster and...you never know...there might be jellyfish again.
I wouldn't buy one just for this event, but if you have one, you might as well wear it. |
