Overall Rank = 702/1540

Age Group Rank = 108/198
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 415 and ate breakfast at the Comfort Inn. Also drank 2 ensures. Got to the site a little after six and met the Tri-Delaware group at our tent.
Event warmup:

Set up my area.
Swim
  • 35m 54s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Start seemed w\fairly wide open until the 1st bouy. It opened up after that and everything went well. I did get stung in the face by a jelly which freaked me out for a bit. Water was choppy after the last bouy which may have slowed me down. Good swim overall.
Transition 1
  • 04m 3s
Comments:

A little slower than I wanted but I wanted make sure I had everything.
What would you do differently?:

Speed it up.
Bike
  • 2h 52m 15s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.51 mile/hr
Comments:

1st 40 miles were great. I was near 21 mph w/o much effort. I thought I could avg. over 20 but I figured the bottom had to drop out sooner or later. Enter Eygpt Rd.....wow that was hateful. That slowed the pace down the rest of the ride. Still happy with the ride...15 min. faster than my best. (New bike helps too.)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 03m 34s
Comments:

I'm OK with this. Just have to speed it up.
Run
  • 1h 59m 30s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Went out too fast for the 1st 2+ miles (8 min). I felt bad at mile 4 so stopped for pee break and really hit the gatorade and water. Ice down the front of the shirt helped. I did not feel better until the turnaround. Running pace was ok after that but I walked the aid stations. Last 2 miles were much better and I passed a lot of people. Finshed strong but in the end I was 7-10 min. slower than I wanted to be.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down at the start.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank a beer. Yum.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow down at the start of the run.

Event comments:

I PRed my HIM time by 2 minutes which is cool but I wanted to go under 5:30 which I think I should have done. The race itself was awesome. I will do it again this year. It was also good that TriDelaware had a strong showing. I think there were 15 of us there. We just need a better tent!
