I haven't been posting my weekly weight this month b/c the scale isnt budging much.  I believe I started the month at 290.8 and am at 287.2 as of today.  However, I just re-did my measurements from the gym, I dropped 2.5 inches in the navel and 2 in the hips...nothing in the waist...go figure.  I am down a dress size too.

Lastly, I was fighting a spikey blood pressure which on my last few reads has been 124/82, 110/62 and tonight 100/68.   Finally things are going in thr right direction.....even if the scale is laughing!

PS...my dad has been telling my not to focus on losibg weight, but rather toning up and shrinking the dress size...

Nice improvements!  And, I think your Dad has the right perspective.  I dropped a lot of weight initially, but haven't as of late.  If my measure of success is the scale, I'd be irritated with the lack of progress.  But, I continue to drop waist sizes (had to buy a new pair of slacks today), so I must be doing something right.

Well done, Mary! Keep going!

Awesome job on the measurements.  I've had the same thing happen to me recently.  Well, except for the dress wearing part.  Leg shaving, I'm ok with that, wearing a dress is a little out of my comfort zone though.  But anyhow.  Even though weight is one of the most easy ways to measure your success, it's not always the best indicator.  I think that when we say that we want to lose weight, what we're really saying is "I want to look better."  But weight is a concrete concept, so we say "I want to lose weight."  Sure, you can tell when clothes fit better, or are getting loose and you need new ones, but it's not something you can point at as easily.  "I look better" or "my clothes are fitting better" doesn't sound nearly as good as "I lost 8 pounds last month."

So try to focus on the changes you've made, and the consistancy of your efforts.  The weight will come off, but really, that's a side product of training.

I think it's pretty awesome when that happens...

After all half the reason for losing the weight (after health of course) is so we are smaller right? I know personally I might not ever be considered "normal" weight between my larger bone frame and Triathlete Body, but I might BE the same size as girls that weight 10-20lbs less. Which is OK with me. I think the only time I will curse those 10-20lbs is during IM's when I'm hauling up hill after hill.
