Hey Ceadster you know we are here if you need us.  Now put what ever you are eating down and eat a carrot.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Hate myself like that! I'm literally sittng back and watching myself putting on weight.

Of course you are eating. It feels good, it comforts you, and you are going through a very stressful time right now (this is my exact pattern...) You need to sit down and think out some things that make you feel as good as food and then do those things instead of eating. Some of mine, hot shower, going someplace with a view (the ocean is especially good for me) - do some things for yourself that way - it will help. Food is easy, which is probably why you're turning to it.

As for walking - getting started is the hardest part. Make it easier. Maybe just plan a 1 minute walk - sometimes for me, just getting started and having some movement really really helps me feel better.

My run plan today was to do 4 miles at 10:28 and 2 miles at 12:00.  As you will see I didn't follow my plan...Not smart but I was a rocket today.  Okay rocket may be a tad much but for an elderly, overweight, retired, ex-smoker (5 months thank you very much) not too bad:

Mile 1   9:17

mile 2: 10:18

mile 3: 9:56

mile 4: 9:36

mile 5: 9:35

mile 6: 10:48  Killer uphill at least for me.

Okay I am done patting myself on the back..Have a good day ya'll.

Well, I am officially impressed, although I do take exception to the word "elderly" as it applies to a youthful 53.  But the ex-smoker part is awesome and you have every right to attempt to break your arm by patting yourself on the back.  I would love to see those times, particularly with hills involved.

I'm proudly annoucing that I finally got the courage and went to the gym yesterday. I was reallhy nervous after such a long break and also really scared that maybe it's too soon. Well I did 3,1miles on the treadmill walking - up/down hills - and it went fine. There were w few moments when I was really struggling with the pace and I had some chest pains but different to PE pain. I then did a set of sit-ups and a few very light free weights. It all felt really great! I was even considering going today again but then thought I'd better take it easy at first so instead of the gym I'm attempting house cleaning.

Thanks Teammies!

Saling - Nice run!!! Hope I can get that fast some day.... I'm working hard on my running right now!

Cead - congrats on getting back to the gym! Take it easy and don't push too hard getting back in the swing of things. Glad you're on the mend!

Great running Sailing! I will give you older (than me anyway;-)), and former smoker (cause you said so), but can't really give you the overweight, unless of course that is not you in the pictures on your blog;-) I don't think I have been that size since I was about 10 yrs old...27 yrs ago!

Cead, awesome work in getting back to the gym, definitely a step in the right direction, keep it up. Sounds like a great pace to start back at. Good luck!

Yes Southpalms that is all me,  but that was 12 pounds ago B4 I quit smoking and I can't get that frickin 12 off again...GGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.  I believe I will add some P90X to my days and see if I can't get this party started.  I thought by adding swim and bike back into my run schedule that I would do something,  but alas like some of you I remain stuck.
