Subject: Hed 3's Question
I'm looking at getting a pretty cheap set of Hed3's (2006 models) and I was wondering what everyone's opinion on them was. Most of the stuff I've read has been pretty positive, but I was just gonna get some opinions. Anything I should watch out for when I see them in person? Oh they are Tubulars.

Thanks guys

Because of their design they can't be trued like spoked wheels. There will be a runout number written on the rim of the wheel, anything less than 0.030 is generally considered an "A" wheel.

The used rear that I bought had some lateral runout, but it was due to bearing problems.  Fixed it with some help from HED's friendly service people.

HED.3's are generally pretty bomb-proof, but look for any obvious signs of damage or cracks.

Oh, really dumb question I know... but the one I'm buying has a 9spd cassette on it. Any problems changing that over to a 10spd?

Good choice in Aero wheels. I am not sure about the 2006 models, but I have a 2009 set. I LOVE them. I really looked into deep dish vs tri-spoke. And yes, these don't need trued. With what the previous guy said, and as long as the obvious physical condition is in good shape, I am sure the 2006 will do just as well.
