Subject: RE: Holy Crap! What Now! The final week...It's not too late. You should be toeing the start line rested and ready to race, so go very light the day or two before the race. If your goal is to not walk at all during the run, then practice running v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y to stimulate your mind and body what the run should feel like. It's easy to start running at a very easy pace and think "this is too easy, I'm going to go a little harder..." and you need to practice resisting that temptation. Nerves? Spend some time reflecting on the progress you've made. The night before my Ironman, I sat down and wrote out some thank you notes to people who have helped me with training and race preparation. Was a nice way to not obsess over last minute gear choices or "I haven't trained enough" thoughts. |
