Quintana Roo Te Quilo versis Trek Equinox

Hey all..2 years ago I bought a QR Tequilo on ebay for $400.  Bike was great for me..but decided to get a Trek Equinox 5 this year.  I asked the trek store owner what bike he thought was quicker and he laughed and said definitly the equinox.  Problem is that I am not convinced.  The QR still uses the small 650 tires and he claims that switching to the larger 700 will make a difference - but I am not so sure.  Also the QR is actually lighter for some reason.  Last 2  tris I did I used my equinox and was able to average 20.1 and 20.2 - which is a little faster than what I did last year with my QR.  Since I am not comfortable with the aero bars yet - it is easier for me to switch gears on the equinox since the gears switch on the handlebars.  please help me out here.  I have included a picture of my QR te quilo so you know what bike I have.  Not sure of the year.
