Comments: Sub-8's! Are you kidding me? I am really excited to see that I can run sub-8's. Now, can I run that pace after swimming and biking? Guess that's a question for another time. BUT, it's cool to race at 7-something per mile. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little faster. I didn't feel too bad at the end of the race. It's been so long since I've pushed at a race pace. I'll definitely have to start to push the tempo in my training a bit. Post race
Warm down: Does standing around in the rain count? What limited your ability to perform faster: 30 extra pounds. Not enough interval/ tempo training. Precipitation. Event comments: I feel like I got stood up on prom night...again. (kidding!) I got trained up, packed up, set up, psyched up and then...nothing. Just a >5k in the rain. Eeesh. There's another race in a couple of weeks, hopefully it will go better. Last updated: 2005-01-19 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:30 am, had my slice of whole wheat with all natural PB and milk. Drove 2 hoiurs to JTSP. Registered and set up my transition area. Met John (JTee) who lent me a plastic bag to stave off the on-coming rain. Sought shelter from said rain. Huddled in a pavilion with 400+ people waiting to know if we were running in the rain. The lightning wouldn't stop, so the event was transformed into 4.6k (2.9 mi) race instead. What the heck? I was all dressed up, might as well get a run in.
Running around putting my gear away and hopping around waiting for the timing strips to get set up. That's about it.
