Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have been riding for the past 4-5 months and have been tri training for a little over a month. But prior to training I had already changed my eating and drinking habits for about the last year. Last night my daughters wanted to watch some family videos and when I saw myself from two years ago I was amazed. I still see myself as over weight and I still want to loose more weight but seeing a video of myself from two years ago really put things into perspective. Two years ago I was 270lbs. This morning I weighed 212lbs. It takes time and doesn't happen overnight, but if I can do it, so can YOU!!!!! Lets all keep up the good work. Next goal..... to become a triathlete (Aug 9th Bridgeland). |

The visual of my mass coupled with a 2 year old on a tiny train was comical. It was a big part of getting me off the couch... I should get a similar picture taken now and see the difference at 225. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Keep it rocking man! I do think that many of us (both men and women), no matter how good they become will still have that "i'm fat" mentallity (if you were fat). I rode mountain bikes with a friend a couple of weeks ago who I haven't seen in probably 5-6 years and is now probably around a semi-pro mountain biker. Basically when I last saw him he was around 270lbs, heavy drinker, and was red-faced and looked like blood was ready to spurt out at any moment. Now I think he's around 170-180 but he still views himself as fat. I remember at 15, racing and riding at a BMX track for hours on end about 6-7days a week thinking I was fat. Then I found an old picture of me with no shirt on, on my bmx bike and I'm just thinking "Damn, if I had that body with my pick up skills now. There wouldn't be a woman in the bar who stood a chance" Me at 15 http://www.flickr.com/photos/atlantasmittie84/2792685612/sizes/o/in/set-72157606920520246/ |

New user![]() | ![]() Hi my main goal is to lose weight i'm 6'2 and 285lbs.the heaviest i have ever been was 324lbs about 4 months ago. it is very difficult for me to look at myself in the mirror sometimes. i use to be a great in sports and been in great shape but like 7 years ago i start gaining weight like crazy. in my advantage i have to say that i am a very good swimmer even now,i love biking but i have been hurt in the past with the running. you are a great example to me that if you realy wanted, you can have it, i swimm a mile every other day and ride 10 miles evry other day. i only run short distances again cause of past injuries, i realy want to do my first sprint tri this year. there is one in florida that is in october and is only 500 yards swim 15 miles riding and 1.9 miles runing. i think this one will be perfect for me.what do you think??? |

Sounds like a great goal. My first will be in October as well. You are fortunate to be a good swimmer. I believe that is one of the best ways to lose weight because unlike running, there is hardly any strain on your body. Perhaps while training your cardio, you could go extra long distances in swimming to help you cut weight for the event. Going in lighter should make it easier and help prevent injury. |
