For an Oly, I have 1 aerobottle of water and a small amount of gatoraid (or only use gatoraid at supported stops if the event is supported?) I will take 1 gel after being on the bike and comfortable for a few minutes, and take a second one about 3/4 way through the bike. I don't take anything with me on the run.
Just for referance in a sprint, I have a 1/2 aerobottle of water or gatoraid and I carry 1 gel but have yet to use one. Nothing else.
