Subject: Compression gear question
Are the commercially available models (2XU, zoot), graduated compression (tighter at the ankles, looser as it goes up)?

I picked up a calf sleeve, McDavid, at the local Spors Authority for about $10 bucks.  It is slightly tapered so its smaller and tighter towards the ankle.  Much cheaper than the other guys, but I haven't tried anything else, so I can't compare them.  The McDavid is a nice thick neoprene with good compression.

I tweaked my right calf in my last tri, not bad enough that I couldn't train, but I started compensating for it.   My knee started to hurt, and then my hip.  I picked up the sleeve and took a couple days off before things got worse.  I wore it about 12 hours a day, and then trained with it for a week and I was good.  No idea if its really doing anything, but it seemed to help even if it was only mental.

i have the 2xu socks - i think they are equal compression everywhere.  the zoot tights though - have different compression in different places.

I have worn compression tights for years while running and have tried Zoot and a few other brands. The Zoot are the real deal IMO! You pay for it, but they truly deliver.
