Hello,

I am fairly new to Atlanta and I do not like my current primary care physician.
She is not an athlete and doesn't really understand what being a competitive triathlete is all about.

I would like for my primary care physician to be a doctor (internist or general practice) who is a runner and/or triathlete.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would prefer a doctor in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody/East Cobb/Medical Center areas.

I use Dr. Mark Friedman who is part of the Laureate Group.  I have been going to him for about 5 years now after leaving my former doc for the same reason you are looking to change. I have been happy with him - he is a runner who has logged some pretty good times in marathons and 10ks so he understands an athlete's mentality.

Others have asked this same question in the past and we haven't gotten a ton of response.  I work with area doctors for my job so I'm always trying to find a doctor who's an avid runner/triathlete...I haven't yet.  I am familliar with some of the doctors in the Laureate Group- they seem like a good practice, so I'd try the doctor reccomended above unless there are more responses to this...Good Luck!

I have a great doctor who is a runner and she is very in tune with the athlete lifestyle, only she practices in midtown. Her name is Dr. Shirey 404-892-6465. I know it's a ways from the area you prefer but thought I would reply anyway. Just in case.

I saw Dr. Shirey's partner, Dr. Toni Rossi, she was also very good about the athletic lifestyle.  But, they practice in midtown on Piedmont and Ponce.
