Subject: RE: Javelin parma owners ???I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with your shifters or detrailleurs, unless there has been a crash or some other damage. You're going WAY over board with replacing the components or selling the bike at this point.
The first thing I would do I make sure the rear wheel is seated properly in the dropouts. Secondly, I would make some small adjustments to the cables. A cable that is a bit too loose or too tight will cause all kinds of shifting problems, if too tight, you will jump gears, if too loose, you will miss some shifts. Seriously, this is the first thing to check. After this, make sure your cables, housing and everything are in good order, no cuts or kinks, make sure everything is routed properly.
I'm not a tech but I would bet it's a cable problem. The cable is the mechanism that makes the derailleur "work". If it is not working properly, it is probably the cable. Edited by jeffy_101 2009-07-14 12:20 PM
