OK, first of all, I know $1000 is not all that high end for good wheels.  But, what with a mortgage and 3 children....so, in your experience, what is the best set of wheels I can buy for $1000.00 or less.  By best, I mean a set to use basically all the time, not just on race day.

Thanks.

As it is with a whole bunch of other stuff, if you spend just a little more...

You can find a brand new set of Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL with a 2 year "if it breaks, we'll repair or replace it" warranty for abotu $1200-1300.

It seems 1200-1500 is the entry price point for good wheelsets. Flash Point, Williams, Gray, etc, all have something in that range.

If you want deep-dish stuff, I believe Williams cycling is one of the few wheelbuilders that makes something in that price range for new.

You'll do better for sure on Ebay if you know what you're looking for.

+1 to Williams Wheels. I've heard good things.

Also, check out Soul Wheels, they get good reviews on WeightWeenies.

Winter is the best time to find deals on wheels (or anything bike related). Everyone's riding now, so demand is much higher.

What about a deep front and a disc cover for a standard-rim rear wheel? That could be done under $1000 very easily.
