Run
Comments: Great weather. Cool and low humidity. For me, this was a training run to fit into the 20 week Olympic Tri program rather than a race. I'm running my first sprint tri next weekend. My wife started running in May, and wanted to do this, so I agreed to run it with her. She's come a long way since May, and I wanted to support her efforts by doing something running with her. She was worried about her pacing, and being able to run at night. So, I took the Garmin, and told her I'd keep her in the 10:15-11:15 range that she wanted to run it in. I felt fine during the whole run. Took a Gu about 10 minutes in. Some hills, but nothing I felt challenged by. I ran very pleasantly and easily. It was a good experience for me to deal with the pre-race ligistics and crowds. That will help me be a lot more relaxed for next week. My wife was struggling on the hills, and had to walk a bit up the last one, so I stayed with her to encourage her to keep going that it was only a half mile left and she could do it. So, how was I rewarded? She kicks it in the last .15 miles and beats me by 8 seconds! To the guy in the home-made looking race wheelchair. I think you were doing a great job. I passed you a couple of times when you were really struggling up the hills. You were an inspiration to many people by being there and making it through. Way to go! What would you do differently?: Not believe my wife that she wanted to run with me! :) Not take the metro. Took over an hour to ride a 20 minute trip. Argh! Post race
Warm down: Stretched a little and drank beer. Should have had more food than a banana. Also got a little cold later on. Event comments: Nicely run, and fun with the beer and entertainment in Rockville Town Center. Last updated: 2009-07-19 12:00 AM

Race started at 8:45pm. So, had a normal day, tried to eat well. Went to a Greek restaurant for lunch had chicken and a beer. Dinner was chicken, and a little pasta with sauce.
Walked to the metro. Major delays both ways due to track work.
Otherwise, did nothing but drink a bottle of water.
