I'm thinking about giving this a go.  My swim & run are ready & I can survive the bike climb.

Anyone done this before?  Any tips, besides 'stay hydrated?'

They ain't kidding about that 12 mile climb.  I almost cheered when I hit the top...until I remembered that I still had 16 miles left to bike plus the 10k.

3 hours 19 minutes -- good for 45th (52nd if you count relays)

not too shabby for my 3rd triathlon - 1st olympic distance.

Great job on the tri--that's one he11 of a first Oly!  I was going to do that one until I drove the hill in June and decided it would be best saved for a fall training ride without the added pressure of the swim and run and the heat!  I had a few friends over there doing it too....post a link if you do a race report!

Race report -- 1 mile swim, 29 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

water 65 degrees, temp at start about 65, no wind
Swim split 25:02 (17th overall, 2nd in age group)

T1 - 1:44 small transition area, plenty of room

Bike - 1:55:13 (60th) no wind for the first 4-5 miles, then it picked up and the last 4-5 miles of the 12 mile out (1900ft up) climb were pretty windy -- 17 miles into town were into the wind.  Temps 70-75  Looking at the results, a lot of people finished right around 1:55, so even a small improvement here will help if I tackle this again.

T2 -  1:20 kinda weird just dropping off the bike & walking over to the person who has your bag of gear, but it worked out just fine.

Run - 55:44 (70th)- a little more heat 75-80, but just ran out of gas.  It happens, especially with a newb like me.  Something to work on before the Lake Stevens Olympic in Sept??
