Subject: Numb toes after biking?
Anybody else experiance this?
Just got back from my first bike ride of the season.
And when I got home, my toes started tingling and felt funny.
Also I will have to adjust my seat to 5 degrees off to relieve some pressure.
Has anybody ever done this and if so, has it worked?

Thanks.

I get numb toes every so often, but I always figured it was just because they were cold from the wind. (I usually ride on a levee road where the wind can be pretty gusty). On the other hand, since I started riding with my aero bars I haven't really had a problem with numbness. It might be a seat issue, but I'm not sure--Just speaking from novice experience here.

I had numb toes in my left foot this past sunday after my 5 hour ride.  It was because my wool socks were a little too thick for my shoes...but it was cold out...

I get numb toes also riding after 1 hour. Doesn't matter if I am on the trainer or on the road. It happend in my strap in pedals and my clip on shoes... I think it has got to be either a nerve or a blood flow problem at the seat/groin area.

Used to happen to me before I got new cycling shoes that were the right size.  My old ones were a tad too small and my toes would get numb towards the end of a 2 hour ride.  Hubby says I may have also been cinching the velcro straps too tight.

Mine used to go numb accompanied by a sharp pain in the ball of my foot.  In my case, it was a cleat adjustment...I think they made my feet more straight than the duck foot I tend to ride...but don't quote me.  If it sounds like mine, I'd get your cleats adjusted....

Thanks for the info.
The tingling just happened after I got back from the ride.
It could be a bit of first time riding. I will try and adjust my saddle and
try it again.

there's been a few threads about this recently, see if you can find them to get some more opinions. my toes go numb too, but i'm very new to all of this... in any case, i find that wiggling my toes every few minutes helps, and about once every 5-10miles I usually unclip my feet one at a time and shake them out... that helps more than anything.

Some questions that come to mind:

- New Shoes? Right size / wide enough?
- Different socks / thickness?
- Longer than usual ride?
- Straps too tight? I usually have to losen mine as the ride progresses (feet tend to swell a bit when riding.)
- Are your cleats positioned properly or are your toes too far forward or pointing down on each stroke?

Best of luck,
Rob

Shoes feel fine.
First ride.
Straps probably too tight... good idea about loosening them.
Cleats seem to be fine as I am positioned good on the pedals.
Thanks for the tips.
