Pre-race routine:

5:00am wake up. on the road by 5:20 arrived at race 5:45. numbered and raced bike/set gear. all ready to go but 7:00 had to wait 2hr till wave start.

light stretching, just relaxed. watched sprinters

treated the swim as a workout. did not race it just swam it. felt good at my pace did not get cought up in tring to be up front. ended up passing a lot of my group 3/4 through

Ran the 1st 5k good about 11:15 pace, after 2nd water stop I started to cramp up, maybe too much water or the HEED missed me up. I had to start run/walk. late start temps got hot about 89 deg.
What would you do differently?:

alittle more running leading up to race. to much worring about calfs....

1st time at this distance. I wanted to try to come in @ 3:00hr thought that real time would be at 3:15 so 3:18 was good enough consitering the heat factor and my cramping.

That was my first Oly and like you... the heat on the run just killed me!  

So... the rest of you... talk to me about the beer line.   Was the beer free for racers?   I saw the beer tent and the prices, and as it turned out I couldn't stomach anything but a coke for the first hour anyway.   But I was curious about that.   I also never saw the shower tent.  Or is that the misters everyone is talking about?
