has anybody done a triathlon with a broken finger?

Shortly before the Oshkosh Tri, I break my finger (in the hand part) playing soccer. yes i know you
play that with your feet!!Laughing I've been training for about 7 months for this race and end up being a helper - not a racer - at the race. There is a reason why things happen, and it will make me a faster player next year, but I'm still bummed.
I have to wear a splint for 4 to ? weeks, but that at least will allow me to run & maybe take spinning classes!

Any input on what not to do when, or what is okay to do now, would be great!

Never done it, but I would certainly try.  If I could deal with the pain, I'd HTFU and do the race.  I'd also give it a really short trial swim the day prior.

Tie a big azz paddle on your hand and call it a splint.

wear a splint or tape it to the finger next to it, if cyclist can break collarbones, dislocate shoulders, and whatnot and still finish the race, i think a broken finger shouldnt leave you on the sidelines

I did Ironman New Orleans 70.3 with a broken finger. The only part that hurt was trying to shift up. My shifters are on the aerobars and I normally use my index finger, the one I broke, to shift. After doing that a couple times I learned very quickly how to use my middle finger for such ventures. The funny part is in all the race photos my finger is sticking up so it looks like I'm doing a perpetual `We're No. 1!!!'

I have a friend who broke his collar bone at mile 2 of an IM bike course and still finished the race.  You'll be fine with a broken finger.
