Run
Comments: The run started out great, my goal was 7:45 per mile. I knew ahead of time of the two hills and I was running right around 8:00 per mile for the most part. What would you do differently?: Drink more water before the start and in the first few miles. By the time I started drinking more it was really too late. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, stretched, drank some water, ate watermelon and half a hot dog. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough drinking in the first 4-5 miles. Still a bit heavy, could lose about 10-20 more pounds. The heat and humidity kicked in as well about the 8 or 9 mile mark. Hit the 'wall' just past the 9 mile mark, could have been not enough water but could have been lack of calorie intake also. This is something to work on in the longer runs. Event comments: They had water stops about every mile for the first 9 miles, after that it seemed like they were every 0.5mi or 0.75mi until the finish. The course is great, lots of volunteers and police controlling traffic, serving up the water, and cheering folks on. Last updated: 2009-07-31 12:00 AM
