Overall Rank = 94/123

Age Group Rank = 9/9
Pre-race routine:

How did I do? My first multi sport event.

I was to meet some folks at one ladies house, but I got there late and missed them. So I drove to the park. Got there with about 90 to go. Got ready, put all my stuff in the transition area, went and picked up my number. Got marked by a very cute lady (why do they mark your age and number on you when you have a number pinned on?).
Event warmup:

Kind of ran around a bit to warm up.
Run

Comments:

Got to the start line, got up to the front, and we are off. The first run went fairly well, I think I only walked twice, and as some folks passed me I got a few 'keep going', that was good. I rarely saw the folks I was with after the start. You know drinking a water from the water station was harder then I thought it would be, kind of felt bad tossing the cup on the ground but the volunteers picked them all up.

Comments:

Got to the transition area for the bike change, changed shoes, my legs were lead, and I am off. I must have caught some 20 people on the bike part, including one of the ladies I was with (I did not even know she out ran me). One dude on a yellow Giant bike was on my tail the whole bike. As soon as I thought he was gone, boom, there he is again. We finished the bike together, but I did get into T2 before him :P. Got out of T2, to do the run (again, ugh [didn't we just do this?]).
Transition 2
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

Got off the bike, put it on the rack, leg did not hurt near as much I
Run
  • 29m 17s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 52s  min/km
Comments:

My second run was slower, had to walk I think three times, I ran with a few people a few times, then I would be dropped. In about the last mile I saw the one lady I had passed on the bike, so I pushed it to make sure she did not beat me :). One dude I had passed on the second run (he was having leg cramps), came by me with about 400 yards to go, I tried to go with him, but I faded again, I did run for the last 100 yards or so. Finished and got my wet towel (THAT was nice), had a nice meal at the buffee they had (you know they even had Coke, weird).
During the second run I swore I would never do this again, but I am looking forward to the next one.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of tarining, and not my main sport.

Well run

Hey! Did you drive up to a guy in a blue truck after the race and ask about the Giant? If so, that was us!

OK. That is hilarious. The bit about the Giant in your race report sounded familiar.

We really should all wear armbands or something

trixie... and why are you called trixie?

When do you meet next time? I do a lot of road bike racing, but I plan to do a few duals (no tris yet, my swimming sucks, and I do not want to embarrass myself ). My running needs work.

Too bad we couldn't meet up!

I was right near the starting line also... probably saw ya!!

Great job, and the following is SO true, "During the second run I swore I would never do this again, but I am looking forward to the next one."

BTW - Trix is a nickname.  Don't be afraid of the water!!  For most triathletes the swim is weakest event, so don't fret!  Hope to see you at some races this summer!

Nankin, is right after the Kensington road race (road bikes). So, I am also thinking of Nankin as I would not be as tired if the days were reversed.
