Look like some great times there! I heard it was crazy windy at the end of the bike.

Dave, hope everything is well ...I can't believe you lost your timing chip (just starting rumours)

Well done Matt and Stef. I'd like to stick with the timing chip rumour but unfortunately that was not it. I went really easy on the swim and the first 2 hours of the bike and was feeling great. Then I started with severe gut issues. My stomach would not empty and I had to stop drinking. I felt like I was toast when I got off the bike but I started the run to see how it would feel. I managed to slosh and burp my way through the first loop of the run, but my stomach would not process anything. I was trying to vomit but was not able. So I walked back to transition instead of starting the second loop. Back at transition I had some coke and that seemed to fix it. Once I had rehydrated I felt human again.

Today I feel fine physically and had to stop myself from doing a workout. I think its time to give up on living off the course and look into options like Infinit. I don't know if it was coincidence, but for the first 1.5 hours on the bike I was using my own mix of lemon lime Gatorade Endurance that I train with. When it ran out I picked up a bottle of orange GEF at an aid station and that seemed to be the start of my problems.

Thankfully Muskoka does not use GEF so I should be ok there without a new hydration plan.

Hey!

Wow.  That's a LONG way!!! (That's all I was thinking all day ... "This is a really long way to go...") *laughing*

I filed my race report - but I'll give you the Reader's Digest....

Swim was good.  Went easy and just enjoyed the sun and the water.  Bike was good.  A couple good hills.  Hard not to draft.  A little windy at the end - but I've been out in worse.  Wasn't feeling well on the end of the bike and switched to water. (Accelerade was turning my stomach - I think I might have tried to take it too much with the beans, gels and liquids.)  Run was LONG.  At least it was overcast.  My gut was upset and that cleared up about half-way (after a stop) but then my hamstrings cramped.  I finished strong and happy - and felt good afterwards.

I was really sore yesterday.  My knees and hips ached and I had a butt cramp for most of yesterday.  Today I feel good.  I'm stiff - but nothing awful.

Dave ; sorry to hear about your gastric issues...I am just really happy that it wasn't an injury.
We definitly have to hook up before we head out in September...get the spouses together and anyone else! Let me know when you want to hit some 401 overpasses

Stef...stellar performance...sorry bout the butt cramps :S

Dave - I feel for you - that's an awful feeling - and I was with you - mine started on the bike though.  I'm glad you're okay and feeling much better now!!  I'm actually excited about getting out on the bike tomorrow! *smile*

I can tell you after that one that I'm definitely not signing up for Muskoka.  If Steelhead is "flat" then yeah ... I'm good. *giggling*

Im still overwhelmed with the triathlon experience that is "Ironman`
There were so many bikes in transition! it was like 100M long and 4 racks wide! crazy!.

Dave that sucks. I`m sure you`ll have a better race at Muskoka. I almost threw up on the run too. I kept drinking Gatorade because I knew I had to too. but my stomache did not agree at all!

Stef, damn Way to kick some a$$!

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words. today it`s windy and I will not run bike or swim.... OK maybe I`ll ride... but slow

Matt - I'm with you on the transition! Wow!  I was worried about finding my bike... it wasn't as bad as I thought but I wasn't as disoriented as I anticipated I would be.

What a gorgeous place though!  The beach was incredible!!!

ETA - I biked a whole 11k today ... I thought I was fine - but I'm TIRED.  So gardening, course work and relaxing in the sun today!
