Subject: Steelhead finisher.

I finished the Steelhead HIM this past Saturday.  Thanks to all the BT community to making training enjoyable, especially those at the Thursday afternoon Lake Wingra swims.  Race report for those who are interested:  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=172862



It has been a great first year of Triathlons for me, a Lake Mills Sprint, a Cap View Olympic and finally Steelhead.  Maybe one more left in me this year.

Congrats on the finish- likewise I participated.

I happend to be in wave 18, las wave and  the swim and first portion of the bike were nice, but man did the wind/rain pick up at about the midpoint of the bike ride. Muchlike you I had a big fall off on the second half of the bike in terms of speed, but actually pushed more watts in the seoncd hald of the ride. ended up dropping from 23 mph for the first half to 20. 4 mph for the entire thing.

Transitions were long, the run up from the beach I thought was kind of brutal- couldn't get any traction and felt I was workin pretty hard for that minute.

Hope you had a good time- but I agree would have been nice to hang out a bit- but instead since it was raining we high tailed it back to the car and left rather quickly.

Ended up going 5 hours 22 minutes- 7 minutes over my goal time, but given the conditionas I will take it.. Next up IM Wisconsin!!!
