Subject: Bike-Run-Swim brick dumb??I burned a vacation day today to get in a good long brick for my 1st Oly in 11 days. Unfortunately the local pool doesn't open early. So I did 40k bike (TT position-planned race pace ), 2min T2, 10k (run-walk 4min:1min @ planned race pace ). Then I stopped at home for ~10min to eat a banana & get my swim bag together. Felt tired but not wasted by any means. Felt like I hydrated well during bike & run, and took in calories (3 gels & a Cliff bar ). Walked to pool (1/2mi ) & hit the water. Felt smooth & easy swimming my (admittedly slow ) race pace. Then the badness. A few leg twinges at 500yd turned into hard toe/calf cramps which stopped me at 600yd. I have noticed that none of the Sprint or Oly training plans I've seen involve swiming after bike/run. Now I know why. Edited by Oldteen 2009-08-05 6:02 PM
