An excuse is a poor substitute for performance. - My father

Luck happens when opportunity meets preparation. - My father, again.
(and so I always ask myself - Here's your opportunity. Have you prepared?)

Practice makes permanent. Only you can choose how perfect your practice is. - Mr. Roszel, Ag Teacher.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine. - A sign in our workshop. And true for so many things!

If you really want to improve your running, you need to be running a minimum of 30-35 miles per week. That advice was given to me by the former coach of the U.S. Olympic Triathlon team back when I first started triathlons in 2001. It took me several years to fully implement that advice and the coach was correct. I'm just the typical run of the mill age grouper, but our tri club had the coach and several Olympic team members in it back then and they were very generous with their advice. Our club still has several pro triathletes who provide great tips as well.
