Subject: mountain bike aero barsI've been thinking of putting a set of clip on aero bars on my mountain bike, mostly for comfort on rides. Both wrists have been busted up in the past, and I have pain/numbness issues when riding. I'm thinking an an aero bar shouldn't hurt the wrist as much since the weight would be on my foreams. But, being a mountain bike, I've got a 25.4 (1" ) bar clamp, and the bar I have tapers almost immediately down to 7/8". I don't see any aero bars desigend to fit this, they all say either 25mm or 31.8mm. Do I just pick one and shim the clamp with something? Is there anyone who makes an aero bar specifically for a MTB? I know I've seen it done before, yes I know it will look silly (as if it doesn't allready with a suspension fork and slicks... ), but I really think I would benefit from getting the weight off my wrists. thanks for any tips! |
