Subject: Cyclocross 2009 Schedule

See below for the announcement for the fall season.  Remember, you can use a Mt. bike for these races.  if you want to get better at flying mounts and dismounts, it is a great opportunity.  The races are all about having fun.  I guarantee your bike handling skills will improve quickly.  Great change of pace after a long tri season.  If you have questions, please reach out or reply on this thread.

It is approaching the best time of year, cyclocross season.  Below is the tentative schedule for the season.  All races are tentative until USAC Permits have been finalized.  So dust of those CX bikes, put skinnies on the mtb and head to the parks and dirt roads, cross is a comin'.

I did the entire Ga Cross series last year and this is my absolute favorite race season. So much fun. Think "30 minute heart attack, ready to puke" then you finish it with cowbells and beer. Great atmosphere and fun! You can do it on a mountain bike and last year they had a demo program for bikes. If you're doing a mountain bike, I'd recommend hardtail over full suspension since you have to carry your bike sometimes and FS can be a beast! But whatever. Come on out, it's very kick back and fun.

They are also doing a 10/31/09 "Psycho Cross" halloween race at the Dick Lane Velodrome and there is a 11/14 night race (70s theme) in Anniston, AL. I may lead a clinic for my cycling club for beginning cross...

CX has always intrigued me. It looks like a lot of fun. My mountain bike has disc brakes, I thought disc wasn't allowed at races?

Mindy,
It's not allowed at UCI sanctioned races but I believe you can use them at the Georgia Cross series since it's not UCI sanctioned...
