Wouldn't have to be well aimed, just hit the vehicle somewhere. Then the news report could be: "driving around in a full size Ford pick up truck with a bullet hole in the back, a small white pick up truck with a bullet hole in the back, Dark colored pick up truck with a bullet hole in the back or a black Mazda 4-door sedan with a bullet hole in the back". So after you're shot by this blowdart, you realize what happened, figure out who it was, and draw, how far away do you think the car/truck will be? This is all while you're shaken and your HR is up from riding... Good luck even hitting the car. This is different than how we typically shot at people in the military, how? ![]() Agreed on that part, but the car will be several hundred yards away by the time you have an even semi-aimed shot. And that's assuming that you draw while you're riding. And I'm still active duty and am good friends with some guys who work on the disassembly side (I'm on the re-assembly side after all--unless protecting myself or a patient). One of them told me once that there are times when it's smart to shoot at stuff and times when it'll just get you in trouble. This situation would be the latter. There are also times when one can jokingly imply riding while armed with a pistol would be effective and assume it's okay not to use the sarc font... and times when it's not. Apparently this situation would be the latter. ![]() Edited by Bill 2009-08-13 6:56 PM |

I will say that I have that (military issued) drop holster hanging on the back of the door in my office and I once halfway considered riding with it to deal with feral dogs. I decided I'd probably shoot myself in the leg and crash my bike and end up in the trauma center where I work. I'm not sure what would be worse: the having to explain the circumstances of the accident or the heat I'd take for my spandex shorts... ![]() More to the topic, I do 95% of my bike training on a Computrainer. I want to see my kids grow up. Too many d-bags out there to roll the dice 4 or 5 times a week. |

I own one those, just in desert tan, and a Glock 22....and I live in TX, and I have a license to carry... hmmmmm Edited by TexasMPGal 2009-08-13 7:45 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() When I ride long country roads, I carry heat. Spandex, bike, backwoods NC, yeah, darn right Im packing! And I can say that because Im fro m NC. Serious note though, never pull it unless you are going to use it and if you pull it try like hell not to use it, if that makes sense. x Military and yes, I'm a good shot even if I get him with a blow dart thank you. |
