Subject: Road Bike
Just wondering if anyone has an old/spare/affordable road bike that they are interested in selling or possible lending/renting out. I live in Kelowna and I'm trying to track something down to use for next week's Apple Triathlon. I did my first tri at the end of July on my mountain bike and would like to try and upgrade for this race but I'm not able to spend thousands on a new road bike. Just thought I'd through it out there if anyone has old 10 speed or something in their garage the'd be willing to sell/lend or rent?
Thanks in advance : )

Jo

If you can't locate a bike you may want to consider changing the tires on your mountain bike to the narrower, smoother "road" style tires as apposed to the bigger, nobbier "trail"  style. This alone will make a big difference.

Might not hurt to post an ad on Craigslist too.

Yay! I bought a used 14 speed Fiori yesterday. It is 20 years old but I'm sure it will be faster than my mountain bike.

Way to go! I am also riding something of a similar vintage ('85 Nishiki) due to finances. And, yes, it is faster than my (also antique) mtn bike!

I hope that you are able to get some experience on it before your race - I have seen many people post in these forums,  'nothing new on race day'.

Best of luck in your triathlon!

Wonderful! I did my first IM back in 95 on a 14 speed Fiori. In fact I still have it and use it as my "winter" bike.
