Got the email this morning that they will make a decision about the race depending on the weather by 5am sunday morning.

Looks like the weather is going to be better than first expected, but even if the weather is not so bad the swim is in jeopardy because of Saturday storms, right? 

Is that correct?  I'm more familiar with south shore beaches, which get closed all the time because of rip tides and swelled surf etc.  Are there the same concerns wrt a bay on the north shore?  

Was it raining the morning of Gold Coast, or did they just cancel the swim because of all the rain we got in the days prior?

from the email I just got from the race admin re: tomorrow's youth tri:

"It is also possible that, even if somehow the weather clears around the time of the race, the Health Department may close the beach to swimming due to the health risk from the runoff caused by today's rain."

I called the park and the guy told me that the water is closed now and if there is more rain over night it is very likely to be closed tomorrow morning as well...  Frown
