  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

I listened to my body and kept a very even pace throughout the entire race. I was 6:53 to 7:06 per mile the entire way.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster. Seriously, I could have pushed a sub-7minute mile and finished ok, but since I've been doing the long and slow miles for training so this is a real success to just be a few seconds off my PR from Spring.*****Race Report Update: I got a new PR for the 1/2 Marathon (1 second)****
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and took 2 bananas and 2 waters from post event amenities. Cheered everyone else at the finish line and then got back on bike and biked 2.3 miles back to apartment.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of race specific training....nothing, I ran this race well.

Event comments:

Great venue from start and finish line. The course was so scenic and really a great course for new and seasoned runners alike. Madison, WI is truly, truly beautiful! Good luck all you IMMoo athletes.

Looked for wavedog but never saw him finish, stayed and cheered everyone else on to the Finish Line. Saw trainergirlmick finish with her awesome pink cape!

Plus, Stu from the Simply Stu Podcast was the MC. He was awesome!

Performance: Good
HR was very stable and I didn't really feel winded in any particular place on the course
Course: Winding and very scenic for the most part. Mostly on paved streets with a few (maybe 4) legitimate hills. It was a fast course and the hills didn't really knock you down.

Yo man! Turn down the volume on that iPod, eh?

You went cruising right by me about 3 minutes after the start, and I yelled "EDDIE!" Nothin'. I was like, where's the love, brah?

Then, at the turnaround, I saw you and went, at the top of my lungs, "EEDDDDAAAAAAYYYYYY VOLLLLLLLAAAAAAYYYYY!!!" Still nothin... got a bunch of weird looks though. That little stunt made me need to catch my breath, and I am sure that it cost me my shot at sub 1:40.

Awesome race though dude! Teach me to run like that, eh?
