Comments: gun goes off, feeling ok for the first 100 yds. settle into a grove but the breathing is all over the place...........thought it would settle down some. 1st mile split was 5:44, thought it would be faster but i was settling down some and cruising along in 3rd place at that point....taught a youngster a lesson as he tried to pass me on a tight turn on the inside (mr. youngster, meet mr. tree!). breathing settled down, feeling good, 2 mile split 12:02..........then it all went caput!! finished ok in 8th place......oh well, next year! What would you do differently?: nothing at all, was using this event to gauge if my legs would end up fatigued or still feel fresh..........if fresh then the plan was to do a couple more good hard workouts before taper, if fatigued then the taper would start..............so taper time baby!!!
