Hey guys,

Sorry I missed this week, I was in Toronto for work/training....I was pretty worried about the ending result, but hopped on the scale this morning for tho first time in a week, and was pretty happy to see 193 lbs after a week of eating terribly and only running 3 times since last week, no swimming, no biking..well, other than the stationary bike at the hotel.

(Chuckle) I actually have had Grasshoppers before and they were covered in chocolate. But after 2, I decided to ask what they were. "Let's just say I didn't ask for more after that"!Money mouth

My eating philosophy is if I have to ask what it is "I AM NOT EATING IT"!!!!!!!!

2 things to report:

1. I bought 2 pairs of pants which in itself is a great achievement because I hate shopping so much I usually end up buying nothing or socks. ANYWAY, the first pair of pants is size 10 and the second one is 12 because they didn't have any 10 left so I'm getting it taken in . I was so proud like! Even though i bought top size L but that's just cos I still have this "hiding my body" syndrome- wonder if it'll ever go away- but I'm guessing I'd fit into M.

2. I had my first tutorial today. Now being an EFL teacher I'm well used to classroom environment but I've never taught Linguistics before. I was really nervous this morning but I think it went well - another strange thing for me to say cos I'm rarely happy with my performance and always see room for imporvement. I guess my love for Linguistics helped. I'm really so hyped up now that even the thought of quiet work on my lit review chapter makes me wanna cry. Like, I don't mind reading all that- it's just typing it up that is going REALLY VERY slowly and, let's be honest, is boring.

Ok I'm gonna go now and try to write that chapter- ehhhhh.....

Have a good Monday!

totally not related to any proper weigh in days but i'm down to 155.4 today - yay!

btw for the ladies out there have you noticed a difference in your body composition because of cycling and also because of age? i still want to lose weight but over the past fewmonths have noticed a significant difference in how my jeans don't fit because of my cycling thighs. i know i still have pizza belly and hips but want to feel confident in my changing muscles

Also not an official weigh-in, but both my home scales said 139.5 this morning.  I won't get overly excited until the WW scale gives me a number with a 3 in the middle, but with all the running I have been doing, I tend to believe it.  I won't make it to WW this week and will have to wait until next week to get my "13" number.

As for the age question, sure.  I don't know how old you are but I am less than 2 months away from being 54.  Quite frankly, I think I look terrific now in clothes, but without.....?  Not yet.  I don't have "cycling thighs," probably because I don't do enough cycling.  But for all my very clean diet, my consistent Crossfit (for 9 months) and certainly some (although not enough) swim/bike/run, I have a lot of jiggle in my tummy, hips, thighs, etc.  That I attribute to the aging process.  I have really upped the running and cycling partly to help with the still too-high body fat and also to train for a HIM next March.

It sounds like you have muscular thighs and jiggle in the other places  I don't think that's related to aging, but probably because you emphasize cycling over other forms of activities.  And everyone's body reacts differently to exercise.  Yours might naturally easily put on muscle in the lower body and resist it in other places.  Good luck.

Wednesday upon us - here it is then:

last: 71.9
today: 71.0

So nearly 1kg down And all that with indian take-away dinner and watching rugby in the pub. But I think I found a solution to my troubles- see we always go to pub on Fri evening to celebrate end of the week and have a few beers (as in 2-3 max) and this is followed by take-away dinner. But now that rugby season is on and matches are on Saturdays and Sundays I decided to split that so I have my favourite Indian take-away on Friday and then a drink whenever the game's on. So I get to sin twice but at the end of the day I think I sin less - does that make any sense?

Have a good Wednesday!

Still holding steady this week @ 146 - must do a better job of food logging!!!!

Today is colonoscopy prep day for me (sorry.... was that TMI???).... so it's the clear broth & jello diet for me today.

Great job Sappho even though you never weigh in so I don't know what you were before.  "Pizza hips",   Do they go well with "Muffin Tops"?  I love the names we give to stuff.

No worries jsnowash,  One thing I have found on this site is most anything is normal.  On a good side I bet you hit 145 tomorrow.

Good job Cead,  2 lbs down...WOOHOO!!! It makes sense to me for some reason.  Most studies say timing of calories is just as important as what and how many (Not really, but you get my point).

I am with you on that age thing Leah.  I am just glad that I am not the oldest in here anymore.  I feel so much younger now then I did yesterday since I don't turn 54 until March.

I am getting to believe ( I will try it this winter) that intervals are one way to lose fat in the least amount of time while still improving our Tri muscles.  Find a softer place (grass, HS Track, etc) and do intervals for 20 min;s and go home.

Leah - the change in my body has been amazing. I didn't think I could have this kind of muscle definition at 46. The swimming has done incredible things for my upper body, my bingo wings have completely gone and I have the look I used to have 10 years ago when I climbed 4 times a week. Unfortunately I'm always going to be a hippy chick but they're now pretty solid and don't wobble as much. I've seen some gorgeous women in their 60s who tri and have glorious muscles and wonderful bodies - that's what I aspire to. Now if I could only get some belly fat off..........No change for me this week which is not surprising as I haven't trained at all cos I'm stuck at home with a flu ridden child. Then our friends arrived with a huge box of cakes and biscuits because they were celebrating the end of Ramadan, oh those little almond syrupy things were delicious.Well done to all your losers.
